Ten Food Products That No Longer Exist (for a Good Reason!)

If you think back at the foods you used to eat as a child you might start to remember things that are no longer available. But that might not be a bad thing at all as many of these food products you are about to see are no longer available for a good reason, but others are just not available because the brand went bust…

Pepsi Blue

This was, of course, a limited edition flavour of Pepsi, but that is not the main reason it is no longer available. It is the blue colouring that was banned because it was proven to cause cancer cells to grow! Probably best this ended then.

McDonald’s Supersize Fries

I don’t think you need me to tell you why this menu item was stopped, but just in case you do the 500 calories for the fries alone should be all the information you need.

Purplo’s

Once upon a time, these were the cocktail sausages of course in many households in New Zealand (but it was sold all over the world), but because of its purple food colouring, it is now banned and will probably never see the light of day again.

Orbitz

While bubble tea is still pretty popular all over the world this product was maybe a little ahead of its time. Introduced in 1997 it was not around for long, but I can see this coming back as bubble tea grows in popularity.

McDonald’s DLT

No, this isn’t the classic Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato burger (which tastes amazing and is still for sale), this was a hamburger with 2 compartments in the box. One with the bottom half of the burger, bacon and bun, the other with the Lettuce, Tomato and the top of the bun. It was supposed to keep both things as fresh and as warm as possible, but it wasn’t around for very long at all.

Cadbury’s Taz Bar

This is all down to Cadburys losing the licencing for the product and brand. The good news is you can just eat a caramel Fredo and it will taste just the same!

Hedgehog Crisps

Have you ever wondered what the taste of a Hedgehog is? Well going on the flavour of these crips it was beef, but that is probably why they didn’t last very long.

McDonald’s Hot Dog

While in most countries this is not available anymore it is still for sale in Germany which is the home of the sausage so it makes sense.

It seems 5 layers just wasn’t enough to keep this chocolate bar from being dropped. When you could buy it, the bar had wafer, fondant, rice crispies and caramel smothered in thick milk chocolate. I think I want these to come back!

Heinz EZ Squirt Ketchup

When it was released it was going to revolutionise the ketchup industry with green, purple or mystery colour, but essentially they were all just ketchup, only in different colours. While it might have been fun at first it seems people stuck to the classic red colours and this product got dropped.
